Summer In -Studio Photo Shoot

Summer can be hot, humid or even rainy. Don’t let that stop you from shooting your summer blooms!

Here are a few quick tips:

  • Backdrops - create your own for an inexpensive option. I use painting canvas’s and use old paint to make my own backdrops. Order rolled canvas online for a larger backdrop
  • Lighting - lots of options here. Use lamps from around the house. Order a LED light from amazon there are a variety of sizes and styles. Use a large window and shoot when the light is streaming in at 90 degrees.
  • Camera equipment - for close up shots use a macro lens or purchase macro filters or extension tubes to use.  These will help you get in close to your subject.
  • Technical tips - with studio shooting you can determine your DOF. You are in control of your background so consider shooting at F5-8 to get more detail. Focus stacking is also an option. Pull out your tripod and capture shots all around the subject and then combine in post-processing for the most detail.
